The Orange Hackers' Association wins the "Best Offensive Team" award at CYBERSEED 2017

Syracuse University’s Orange Hackers' Association is a student run organization founded by Ashutosh Rana and Dhruv Verma, both master’s degree students in SU’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Both had a shared vision of building a community to focusing on teaching, learning, and sharing ideas on cyber security. Their idea spread like a computer virus, and the Association is 140 members strong and growing. With the guidance of the well-known and respected cyber security professor, Kevin Du, the Association continues to pursue their mission of “learn, teach, and collaborate.” The Association is planning to include remote students, local community, alumni and industry professional as associate members.

This past October 19th, Association members competed in the prestigious CYBERSEED 2017 Cybersecurity Competition and Conference at University of Connecticut, placing 2nd in Application Security Competition, as well as winning the “Best Offensive team” award.

OHA celebrated National Cybersecurity Awareness Month on 30th of October and hosted a quiz for students to win cool prizes while spreading awareness. The Association has already started  to provide a great platform for collaborating on many projects, competitions and events, few events are as National Cyber League Competition, MITRE STEM CTF: Cyber challenge 2018, NCAC etc.
